The moving Les Sept Paroles du Christ (In English “The Seven Last Words of Christ”) by the nineteenth century French composer Théodore Dubois depicts in music the last words Jesus uttered during his crucifixion. This dramatic and powerful setting is scored for large chorus, soloists and a chamber orchestra of strings, oboe, flute, timpani, harp and organ. Soloists include soprano Maribel Salazar, tenor Jesús Palato and the San Miguel baritone Daniel Sandoval. The consummate work for Holy Week, this performance will be on March 30, Sábado de Gloria (Holy Saturday) at 12 noon. The program will last an hour (without an intermission) and finish close to 1:00 PM.
