Biography:Gabe Hizer, originally from New York City, studied with famed country blues guitar master Stefan Grossman and with jazz guitar guru Howard Morgen. At age 16, Gabe won a Downbeat magazine scholarship for summer study at the prestigious Berklee College of Music, from which he later graduated with a degree in Jazz Composition.
A prolific songwriter since his high school days, Gabe continued to write even during while practicing law. By the time he was ready to begin his first CD, he had amassed almost 1,000 songs to choose from. His CD, “Persistence of Memory,” was released in 2010 to great critical acclaim.
A full-time resident of San Miguel de Allende since 2014, Gabe continued his songwriting, started an oldies band (“Buenos Tiempos”), and put on a series of solo concerts at the Biblioteca and the Shelter Theater. He is also the owner of Estudio San Miguel, a professional recording studio, here.
His musical styles are pop, folk, blues, country, and rock.
