Sekouna Conté is a versatile artist from Guinea Conakry, African Continent. He is the principal chorister of the National Ballet of his country (Les Ballets Africains de Guinea). He inherited the tradition since from an early age he began his career as a musician and dancer at just 12 years of age. He remained in leading roles in various ballets due to his artistic ability. At the age of 25 he joined Gbessia’s Samato ballet as a dancer and musician. He has participated in festivals such as Abenèn in Senegal, and in the Carton festival in Gambia, showing his ability with various instruments such as; the kora, the balafón, the n’gonie, djembe, dumdum, sengben, kénkéni, bolon, gongoma, Krin, among others. He is founder and director of the band Kora KOUMAKAN, from Conakry, Guinea. Sekouna Conte is the guardian of his country’s musical heritage due to his extensive knowledge of its culture.
