UPDATE: SOLD OUT
The great Mexican pop star Benny Ibarra has been famous throughout Latin America since the age of 11, when he was a member of the group Timbiriche, which had seven hit albums and 15 television specials. Ibarra fulfilled his initial promise by becoming a major recording artist, singer, songwriter, composer and arranger. His hit album, Llueve luz (2003), established him as a star; their fifth studio album, Así, was certified gold in its first week of release. Ibarra also stands out as an actor. He played the lead role of Danny in the theatrical production of Vaselina in Mexico City, with 500 performances. He starred in the film Un Padre no tan Padre, which was filmed primarily in San Miguel de Allende. Benny Ibarra spent part of his childhood in San Miguel and has always loved the city, but to date he has had few opportunities to perform there. He was delighted when San Miguel’s Our Habitas hotel and resort began development of a new 400-seat outdoor amphitheater, and agreed that its inaugural concert, on Saturday, February 24, would be Benny Ibarra: Luna de Nieve Concert, coinciding with the second full moon of the year, a bright and large moon. In addition to his own band, Ibarra has invited the group Atomic to perform as a special guest. Bassist Mauricio Valdez, a member of Atomic, says: “This show will be different from others, more tailored to the San Miguel crowd, with more blues and funk, including three songs that Benny has never played before.” The new amphitheater features stadium-style seating to give everyone, from front to back, an unobstructed view of the stage. The concert starts at 6:30 p.m. Parking starting one hour before. Our Habitas is located at Av. Central #101, Col. López Mateos, San Miguel de Allende.
