Dr. Jackie Bouvier Copeland is an award-winning innovator, educator, artist and activist. She is the founder and CEO of the Women Invested to Save Earth Fund (WISE), an organization committed to finding solutions to the environmental crisis. Dr. Copeland also founded Black Philanthropy Month. Recognized in the Congressional Record for her civic contributions, Dr. Copeland has championed social and environmental causes for 40 years, and her efforts have touched at least 20 million people.
She is also a noted jazz singer. Her recent album Blachant has been classified as “Gullah Geechee fusion music.”
In honor of Martin Luther King’s birthday month, Lady Zen is producing six soul fusion events at Café Rama, between January 13 and 31.
Dr. Copeland will showcase her Blachant album in a dinner show on Wednesday, January 17 and 31 (dinner at 6, show at 7).
