Biography

San Miguel PEN is a chapter of PEN International, the organization of writers that defends freedom of expression around the world.
Locally, we support literacy and book-distribution programs; throughout Mexico we support journalists who have received credible death threats with grants and help in finding a safe place, replacing destroyed equipment; in the case of the far too many journalists who are murdered we provide grants in support of survivors.
San Miguel PEN Presents is our annual lecture / presentation series, our only fund-raising event.
