Description de l'événement
Few musicians in history have transformed jazz the way Sonny Rollins did, and on this day, you’ll witness it in Azande Cummings Jazz Trio’s tribute concert.
Leading this tribute is Azande Cummings, a drummer whose resume reads like a jazz hall of fame. With a career spanning international jazz festivals, Broadway productions, and collaborations with jazz legends, Cummings is a rhythmic powerhouse and a master of jazz storytelling through sound.
He joins forces with Enrique Fernandez, an extraordinary saxophonist who has performed with Duke Ellington and Tito Puente Orchestras, to bring Rollins’ legacy to life in a night filled with deep grooves, electric improvisation, and pure jazz brilliance.
–Rollins’ saxophone didn’t just play notes—it spoke, it questioned, it expanded the boundaries of improvisation. Hailed as “the greatest living improviser,” he left an indelible mark with over sixty albums as a leader, pushing jazz beyond convention into a realm of pure creative expression.
His collaborations with Miles Davis and Thelonious Monk were legendary, and albums like Tenor Madness and The Bridge remain untouchable classics.
