An intimate and evocative journey through the sound worlds of composer and guitarist Moisés Acosta. Inspired by the work of painter Francisco Goitia, the program weaves together danzón, sarabande, tango, and contemporary sounds with echoes of the baroque and Latin American traditions.
About the Artist:
Moisés Acosta is a Mexican composer, conductor, and guitarist. He studied composition with Rodrigo Lomán and Marvin Camacho, and guitar with renowned masters such as Alfonso Moreno, Leo Brouwer, and Pablo Garibay. He received orchestral conducting training from Jooyong Ahn, Alfredo Ibarra, and José Arturo González, covering symphonic and chamber repertoire.
He has taught at the University of the Arts in Aguascalientes and given courses throughout Mexico. His students have won national and international competitions. He has received fellowships from FONCA and the National Program for the Promotion of Culture and Arts, for projects like the production of his complete works for solo guitar and national tours with the Kanari Ensemble.
As a composer, he has written over 100 works—around 9 hours of original music—including orchestral, chamber, and guitar pieces. His work has been performed in Mexico, Hungary, Italy, and El Salvador by renowned musicians. He has performed at major national and international festivals and dedicated part of his career to promoting the music of Manuel M. Ponce. He currently performs with a handcrafted guitar named La Selvática, built by luthier Daniel Caro Leonardo.
