I am not your Negro | 2016 | USA | Dur: 93 minutes
Director: Raoul Peck
With: James Baldwin, Samuel L. Jackson
In English with English subtitles
Programmer: Elías Nahmías

A searing and visionary documentary based on James Baldwin’s unfinished manuscript Remember This House, a personal account of the lives and assassinations of Medgar Evers, Malcolm X, and Martin Luther King Jr.

Through Baldwin’s powerful words— voiced by Samuel L. Jackson—director Raoul Peck crafts a profound meditation on race in America, both past and present.

Combining archival footage, interviews, and Baldwin’s own appearances on television, the film confronts the legacy of racism with clarity, urgency, and poetic insight.

I Am Not Your Negro is not just a tribute to Baldwin’s intellect and moral force, but a compelling call to reckon with historical injustice and its ongoing echoes in contemporary society.

Following the screening, there will be a discussion with Amy Cotler.
