Description de l'événement
Radio Blues is a band that performs both original songs and blues covers, as well as music from related genres, always adding their own arrangements to create a unique sound and style. Their music is shaped by influences from rock, blues, swing, funk, gypsy jazz, and even heavy metal, delivering an electrifying ritual of energy and adrenaline in every performance.
The harmonica takes center stage in the band, with a role far beyond its traditional use. Radio Blues has composed original pieces specifically for the harmonica and adapted blues standards and other styles where the harmonica is the lead instrument, a defining factor in their distinctive and original sound.
The band was originally formed in Mexico City, the hometown of its founding members. Over the years, they have gone through several stages and lineups. Since late 2024, the core members have been based in San Miguel de Allende, where they perform regularly, often joined by local musicians.
They have released four independent albums and one EP, and have also contributed to two compilations of Mexican blues.
Radio Blues has performed at most of the major venues in Mexico City and at festivals across the country, as well as in universities, theaters, prisons, fairs, bars, libraries, and more.
INTERNATIONAL TRAJECTORY
In September 2018, Radio Blues embarked on their first international tour, performing at various venues in the Seattle, Washington area and in Vancouver, Canada. Their original sound earned them a strong reception at every stop. For this tour, they were joined by musicians from the United States.
In September 2022, they returned to the Freedom Fest, where they had first performed in 2018, this time to present their album Metamorphosis.
Elihú Catalán, one of Mexico’s most active and recognized harmonica players, has been invited twice to the Carolina Harp Fest in the United States, in October 2021 and 2023.
