Gershwin and Friends

Enjoy the sophisticated, timeless showtunes of George Gershwin, and his songwriter friends and contemporaries, in an elegant setting, performed by two outstanding veterans of the New York jazz and musical theater scene.

Singer and actress Tara Lynne Khaler was a member of the New York City music world for almost twenty years, with performances at Carnegie Hall, Madison Square Garden, Symphony Space, City Center, and on and off Broadway, with many glowing reviews to her credit. As a cast member in the Paper Mill Playhouse production of Camelot, a reviewer for Variety singled her out for praise specifically and as a member of a “dream cast that Broadway would envy.”

Joel Pierson, a world-touring jazz pianist and composer, has collaborated with artists such as the Kronos Quartet, the New York Philharmonic, the Philly Pops, the Cleveland Orchestra, and Linkin Park. Concert highlights include sold-out shows at The Blue Note Jazz Club, Konzerthaus Berlin, SF Jazz, and the Edinburgh Fringe Festival. Broadway World has called Pierson “utterly dazzling,” a “virtuosic, especially brilliant pianist,” and an “absolute treasure.”

This spectacular wife/husband team has been developing and refining a special Gershwin and Friends show in recent months, and will debut the show here in San Miguel de Allende on Wednesday, September 23. You can expect to hear Gershwin standards such as “Love Is Here To Stay,” “Someone To Watch Over Me,” and “Embraceable You,” along with great songs by the likes of Irving Berlin, Harold Arlen, Hoagy Carmichael, and several others. Pierson will also perform some piano solos.

There will be two shows, at 5:30pm and 7:30pm. The venue is Hacienda El Santuario, a luxury boutique hotel in Centro, at Terraplen 42 — an elegant setting where you can relax with a cocktail or order food from the menu (the kitchen has been rated “exceptional” on Booking.com), while enjoying the music.
