Cuba & Danzón – The elegance of danzón and the flavor of Cuba in an unforgettable evening
The Ángela Peralta Theater fills with rhythm, history, and elegance with Cuba & Danzón, an evening dedicated to one of the Caribbean’s most emblematic musical genres. This concert celebrates the Cuban musical tradition with a vibrant performance that will transport the audience to the dance halls of Havana and Matanzas.
Danzón, considered Cuba’s national dance, was created in 1879 by Miguel Failde in Matanzas. This elegant and graceful genre evolved from the contradanza and the habanera, distinguished by its refined musical structure and the prominence of wind instruments, violins, and rich Cuban percussion. Over the years, danzón became a fundamental expression of Cuban culture and the foundation of other iconic Caribbean rhythms, directly influencing styles such as mambo and cha-cha-chá.
In this special performance, an ensemble of outstanding musicians will present a repertoire that honors this musical tradition with passion, virtuosity, and authenticity:
