Event Description
Selected films at Teatro Santa Ana, La Biblioteca, every Wednesday in April
đ„Palestine 36 | 2025 | Annemarie Jacir
In Arabic and English with English subtitles | Dur. 92 min
đSet during the 1936 Arab revolt against British rule in Mandatory Palestine, the film follows a young Palestinian man whose personal journey becomes entangled with a wider uprising against colonial authority.
As tensions escalate between local resistance fighters, British forces, and Zionist militias, private loyalties collide with political conviction.
Director Annemarie Jacir grounds the story in lived experience, portraying a society fractured by occupation yet bound by collective memory and resistance.
Rather than romanticizing revolution, the film exposes its costsâbetrayal, sacrifice, and the moral ambiguities of armed struggle.
Following the screening, there will be a discussion with Brad Rockwell.
