The Changing Nature of Migration in the Americas / Cambios en la Migración en las Américas
Wednesday March 4 @ 5:00 pm - 7:00 pm
Event Description
FUNDRAISING EVENT SPONSORED BY THE LATIN AMERICAN RELIEF FUND
The U.S. border is essentially closed. The large migrant caravans have ceased. Does this mean migration has stopped? Absolutely not. Migration is a global phenomenon that neither walls nor Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) stormtroopers can stop.
Come see a short film by Judy Jackson about initiatives to help migrants right here in Central Mexico, followed by a panel discussion (in Spanish and English) featuring three esteemed speakers:
- Pastor Ignacio Martinez Ramirez of the ABBA House migrant shelter in Celaya
- Paola Monroy, representing the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees
- Susana Guerra, Undersecretary of Human Rights for the State of Guanajuato
After the one-hour discussion, please join us from 6:00 to 7:00 for drinks and snacks in the Cafe Santa Ana and continue the discussion with our featured speakers.
Reservations
Ticket price: $550 pesos. Limited tickets are available online. Many more tickets will be available at the Teatro Santa Ana box office.
All proceeds will help support the operations of the ABBA House migrant shelter in Celaya.
