Tere Lojero Talk&Demostration

Saturday August 8 @ 11:00 am - 1:00 pm

Event Description

**What’s all this about Urban Sketching? 🎨🏙️ ✏️**

It started as a support for painting and architecture, but today it’s a worldwide movement. And yes, it can be done with watercolor too.

Come with Tere Lojero and find out why everyone is drawing the city. She’ll explain what it is, how it’s done, and why it matters in today’s watercolor.

The plan:

1️⃣ 45-min talk – César Gordillo chats with Tere about her path, her process, and the ideas behind her sketches.

2️⃣ Live demo (75 min) – Go watch Tere draw urban scenes in real time, with no filters.

3️⃣ Q&A – Ask her anything. Seriously.

**Tere Lojero — Bio**

Tere Lojero was born in Mexico City and studied architecture at the Universidad Nacional Autónoma de México. Since 1998, following in the footsteps of watercolor, she has devoted herself entirely to this practice. She has participated in multiple collective exhibitions, both national and international, and has presented more than 30 solo exhibitions in various galleries, museums, and institutions in Mexico and abroad.

Lojero is in love with the landscape—a topic that allows her to share her view of the world and give voice to her brushes. Capturing scenes from everyday life has become her main goal, so she can share her soul with the viewer.

She has been awarded on several occasions both nationally and internationally. She has been the head of the International Watercolor Society México (IWS México) since July 2017, and starting December 2019 she became Vice President of the IWS Global. In April 2024, she became Vice President of the Sociedad Mexicana de Acuarelistas (SMA), and starting April 2026 she becomes President of the SMA. She has served as a juror in various painting competitions in Mexico and abroad, and as a manager and promoter of watercolor, she has organized contests, Pleinair outings, festivals, and exhibitions—both national and international. She currently also teaches in-person and online workshops for various watercolor organizations, collectives, galleries, and museums around the world.

**César Gordillo — Bio**

**Mexican Architect and Watercolor Artist**

His work is distinguished by a deep interest in light and atmosphere. These elements transform each landscape into a sensory experience, beyond literal representation.

His approach to watercolor combines loose, Alla Prima brushwork with precise control of transparencies, inspired by both Impressionist tradition and the rich color palette of urban and natural landscapes.

Throughout his career, he has participated in both group and solo exhibitions at national and international level. His work is part of the Permanent Collection of the Museum of Watercolor “Alfredo Guati Rojo,” the Museo de la Acuarela del Estado de México, and the Walter Anderson Museum in Ocean Springs, Mississippi.

He has been recognized twice with the Trofeo Tlacuilo, awarded by the Sociedad Mexicana de Acuarelistas and the Museo Nacional de la Acuarela. In addition, his work has been published in the international magazine The Art of Watercolor."
