Event Description

Sax and the City: Valentin Kovalev, Saxophone & Józef Olechowski, Piano

Siberian-born saxophonist Valentin Kovalev is redefining the classical saxophone on the global stage. Winner of the prestigious 2022 Naumburg International Saxophone Competition, Kovalev made a sold-out Carnegie Hall debut and has claimed top honors in both the Concert Artists Guild and Astral National competitions.

The first Russian saxophonist admitted to the Paris Conservatory's celebrated program studying under Claude Delangle and Timothy McAllister, Kovalev currently serves as a visiting professor at the Cleveland Institute of Music. He is joined by master pianist Józef Olechowski for an electrifying program featuring works by Tchaikovsky, Schumann, Bartók, and Paganini, culminating in the stunning Bizet/Borne Carmen Fantasy!
