Lincoln | 2012 | USA | Historical Drama / Biopic
Director: Steven Spielberg | Dur: 150 minutes
With: Daniel Day-Lewis, Sally Field, Tommy Lee Jones
In English with English subtitles
Programmer: Elías Nahmías
A gripping historical drama chronicling the final months of the 16th President of the United States, Abraham Lincoln, as he fights to pass the Thirteenth Amendment and abolish slavery. Based on Doris Kearns Goodwin’s book Team of Rivals, the film provides an intimate yet powerful portrayal of Lincoln’s political and personal struggles during one of America’s most defining moments.
Daniel Day-Lewis delivers a masterful, Academy Award-winning performance as Lincoln, capturing both his towering leadership and his deeply human vulnerabilities. The film features a stellar supporting cast, including Sally Field as Mary Todd Lincoln and Tommy Lee Jones as the fiery abolitionist Thaddeus Stevens.
With Spielberg’s meticulous direction, a sharp script by Tony Kushner, and Janusz Kamiński’s evocative cinematography, Lincoln is not just a historical account—it’s a profound meditation on leadership, morality, and the enduring struggle for justice.
Following the screening, there will be a discussion with Brad Rockwell.
