Lunch & Learn: What Every Expat Should Know About the 24 Hour Association

Wednesday July 8 @ 12:30 pm - 3:00 pm

Event Description

Lunch & Learn: Social luncheon followed by a short introduction and Q & A.

Event: Planning Ahead – What Every Expat Should Know About the 24 Hour Association

What happens if a foreign resident passes away in Mexico? Who should be called? What paperwork is required? How can you make the process as simple as possible for your loved ones?

Join us for a social lunch, followed by an informative presentation by Gina Giampaoli, Executive Director of the 24 Hour Association of San Miguel de Allende. Originally from San Miguel de Allende, Gina has led the organization since 2019 and will explain the vital role the Association has played in supporting the foreign resident community since 1965.

The 24 Hour Association is a Mexican nonprofit organization that provides prepaid cremation and burial services for full- and part-time foreign residents. More importantly, the Association guides families, executors, and friends through the complex legal and administrative process that follows a death in Mexico, helping ensure a member's wishes are carried out with compassion and efficiency.

During this presentation, Gina will discuss:

How the 24 Hour Association works.

What services are included with membership.

What happens immediately after a member passes away.

Why calling the Association first—rather than emergency services in most expected deaths—is so important.

Common mistakes that can create unnecessary delays and complications.

How to prepare your family, friends, neighbors, and household staff so they know what to do in an emergency.

This is one of the most important planning topics for anyone living in Mexico, whether you are a full-time resident, seasonal resident, or considering making San Miguel de Allende your home. Understanding the process before it is needed can save your loved ones significant stress, expense, and confusion during an already difficult time.

Whether you are already a member of the 24 Hour Association or simply want to learn more, this presentation will provide valuable information and an opportunity to have your questions answered directly by Gina Giampaoli, Executive Director.
