Event Description

Twins Jeanne and Simon are called to a notary's office for the reading of their mother's will and find two sealed envelopes: one for a father they believed dead, another for a brother they never knew existed. Their search leads them to the Middle East and into the buried history of a civil war. Villeneuve intercuts the present-day investigation with the mother's past, stripping away the play's monologues to build a spare, slow-burn detective story. Nominated for the Academy Award for Best Foreign Language Film; won 8 Genie Awards and 9 Jutra Awards.
