Sugar Island Theater. A film by Johanné Gómez Terrero Dominican Republic, Spain | 2026 | 91 min. | classification B | In Spanish

An unwanted pregnancy triggers the journey towards adulthood of Makenya, a Dominican-Haitian teenager who lives in the Batey, a community surrounded by cane fields. A snake stands in its way.

It is the incarnation of the mysteries, entities that guide her towards the recognition of her earthly power and her consciousness in the realm of the impossible.
