Event Description

Screening of the documentary "Abuela Agua" as part of the XIV Encuentro Hispanoamericano de Cine y Video Documental Independiente, Contra el Silencio Todas las Voces. The film, shot in Guatemala, explores the severe water scarcity crisis affecting the country, especially communities in the departments of Huehuetenango and Retalhuleu. Through testimonies from men and women, it shows the consequences of environmental deterioration and unequal water distribution, and includes indigenous leaders defending ancestral rights over natural resources. The story is interwoven with the work of the NGO Arquitectura Sin Fronteras in collaboration with local partners AFOPADI and ASIAPRODI, whose development projects seek sustainable solutions to improve access to drinking water. Directed by Alberto Pla. Venue: Centro Cultural Comunitario El Sindicato, Recreo 4, San Miguel de Allende.
