Event Description

J. S. Bach played on 8-string guitar, these recitals are intended more as a contemplative experience than as a performance.
With its inherent order, beauty and balance—expressing the gamut of human emotions through a spiritual lens—the music of Bach offers a particular solace to the collective trauma of these times. Each of these six programs begin with one of the Suites for Solo Cello—constituting a complete cycle—followed by selected lautenwerk (a keyboard instrument emulating the sound of the lute) and solo violin compositions. The recitals are given on the library PATIO. Click the second image for a schedule of musical selections.
